Choosing: web browser or download?

Yuuguu is an internet based software service for remote team work,  online meetings, online presentations  and remote support. For some uses, you only need a web browser to use our service. For other uses, you'll need to download our desktop application. This page explains when.

The desktop application has the most features.

Using only a web browser

Think of this as a 'Yuuguu Viewer'. By using only a web browser, you can:

• view a screen shared by somebody else
• send and receive instant messages
• dial in to a voice conference
• ask to take control of the computer doing the screen share

This makes the web viewer perfect for watching online presentations given by somebody else.
It is useful for remote support of someone using a computer that has the Yuuguu desktop application installed and running.

The things you cannot do are:

• host a screen sharing session. You can see other screens, but you cannot show your own
• give control of your computer to someone else
• use or manage contacts

Using the Desktop Application

Download the Desktop Application, for PC, Mac or Linux computer systems. Install it. Sign Up for a Yuuguu user account.

Your computer will now have installed:

• a Desktop Application
• a Yuuguu Checker background service

The Desktop application lets you do all the things you can using just a web browser. It also lets you:

• share your screen with others
• offer remote control of your computer keyboard and mouse
• see a contacts list
• see status of contacts
• manage contacts
• link to other instant messaging accounts
• manage personal preferences
• add people in to conversations and screen share sessions

For remote teams and chairing online meetings or giving online presentations you will need the Desktop Application download installed. You will also need to sign up for one of our types of Yuuguu Account. You can choose from Yuuguu Free or Yuuguu Plus, depending on your needs.
