Yuuguu supports Linux customers

News had been reaching us at Yuuguu that users on Linux operating systems were downloading our application and making their own adjustments to get it going. So, due to popular demand, we can announce a Yuuguu version designed, specifically, to work with Linux, meaning it now supports all three major operating platforms.

The vast majority of computers use software platforms based on the Microsoft or Apple-owned operating systems Windows and Mac OS. But, there are some users that prefer to use operating systems based on the open source Linux platform. Up until now, these people have had to download the Windows or Mac versions of our application and – being a decidedly clever bunch – had worked out ways of adapting the software to work on their own systems.

These users are very valuable to us. In the technical sphere, where the adoption of collaborative technologies such as Yuuguu is at its highest, Linux is more prevalent that among the average user base. Also, one of the areas in which Yuuguu’s instant messaging and screen sharing & control features are proving valuable is in remote technical support. Linux use among IT support staff is again high. Lastly, it is these kinds of users that tend to lead the rest of us to the adoption of new technology. So, to look after them, our own technical experts have been working over the past few months to develop a version of Yuuguu that works on Linux-based operating systems. And now it’s here.

The new software has been developed to work on three Linux-based operating systems, Ubuntu, Fedora and SUSE. Users of these systems can download Yuuguu at http://www.Yuuguu.com/download and use either the installer software provided or run their own commands to use our software channel or update site.

It all means that Yuuguu is now supported on all three of the major operating platforms and even the high-tech among us have a version of Yuuguu to suit them.

Anish Kapoor, founder and CEO of Yuuguu, says: “Yuuguu is designed to allow diverse groups of people to collaborate online in real time, and the launch of Linux support is just the latest step down this road.

And already the Linux versions of Yuuguu are attracting plaudits from Linux users. One, John Galindo of Cali, Colombia, says: “The Ubuntu Linux version of Yuuguu is a great thing. I have my own group for Colombian users of Linux Ubuntu (www.cabuntu.org) and we can now use the Yuuguu application to stay in touch with each other much more easily.
